Logansport, IN – April is National Volunteer Month and Tyson Foods is proud to spotlight Logansport facility Chaplin Alex Beane for his continuous dedication to the community. As chaplain of Tyson Foods’ Logansport plant, Beane volunteers on the board of directors for the Emmaus Mission Center and for the 4th Dimension Recovery Home in Logansport.

This month, Beane is celebrating his two-year anniversary with Tyson Foods. During his time with the company he has helped support 43 food pantries in 17 counties by working with the Emmaus Mission Center, providing food to countless families in the nearby area.

The Emmaus Mission Center in Logansport is dedicated to assisting people to break out of poverty by providing them with job skill training, education and access to food, clothing and shelter. As a Tyson Community Pantry Program partner, the company provides truckloads of protein to Emmaus on a regular basis.

“It’s been incredible to hear the stories that these pantries tell us every month and what this partnership with Tyson has done for them” said Beane “Some of them literally melt your heart and remind you that something as simple as a meal, something we take for granted, makes a huge difference to those in need.”

The Emmaus Mission Center distributes more than 1,200 food orders per month, providing food to local Cass County residents who are among the more than 41 million Americans who live in food-insecure households, according to Feeding America. Because of Tyson’s donations, the center has also been able to help local pantries in 17 other counties.

“Working with the Emmaus Mission Center has been a great thing for our community and for Tyson,” said Beane.  “I’m so thankful that so many people in our local plant see the value in this. “I am very grateful that Tyson prioritizes supporting the community. Too spend the time and money to have fleet send food to communities in need, really speaks volumes about the character of our company. I’m proud to work for Tyson. We really care for our team members and our communities.”

In his personal time, Alex volunteers at his local church and is a member of the American Legion. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 13 years.
