Noah Schafer, the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney, announced that Alicia Cruz, 19, of Logansport, Indiana, was found guilty by a six person jury of felony residential entry and misdemeanor battery in a verdict taken Tuesday afternoon.

The conviction followed a one day trial in which the jury heard evidence that on the evening of June 8, 2020, Alicia Cruz along with several other persons confronted a Logansport resident outside her home. When the occupant retreated inside the home, Cruz pushed open the door and entered the dwelling, continuing to argue with the residents and ultimately striking one of them.

Ms. Cruz is scheduled to be sentenced on July 22, 2021. She faces up to two-and-one-half years incarceration on the felony count.

Deputy Prosecuting attorney Cole Beckley presented the case for the State.

Prosecutor Noah Schafer commented regarding the outcome: “We’re very pleased with the verdict and grateful for service of our fellow citizens who acted as jurors. Logansport Police Department did a great job of investigating the matter.”
