Purdue Extension to offer Spring Home Horticulture Series in June 2021

Last Updated on May 26, 2021 by Purdue Extension Cass County

Purdue Extension Cass County has announced that the Spring Home Horticulture Lunch & Learn Series is back after going virtual in 2020. The sessions will take place in the Bicentennial Meeting Room of the Cass County Government Building in Logansport. This year, the series will cover pollinator gardening, tomatoes, garden composting and fall cover crops for the garden.

“All of the workshops are appropriate for growers of any skill level or scale,” said Krista Pullen, Purdue Extension Cass County’s agriculture and natural resource educator. “We want to highlight and share community knowledge that is out there, and use these workshops to provide networking opportunities in order to learn from each other’s’ experiences in addition to learning from the information provided during the sessions.”

The one-hour workshops run from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

June 3rd: Creating a Pollinator Garden

June 10th: All About Tomatoes – Common Pests and Disease Management

June 17th: Composting and Planting Fall Cover Crops in the Home Garden

Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch and spend the hour talking all about gardening. The workshops are free to attend, but registration is requested so that there will be adequate supplies and materials available. Please register by visiting: http://bit.ly/SpringHomeHorticultureSeries or by calling the Purdue Extension Cass County Office at 574-753-7750.

To respect the health of participants as we meet together for this in person training, we will practice social distancing during the workshop. Please plan to wear a face mask during the program, unless you are eating, drinking, outside, or if you are seated and socially distanced at least 6 feet from your nearest neighbor. We will do our best to seat people so that everyone will be socially distanced. A face mask will be provided to you if you do not have one.
