Sept. 12 and Sept. 14, 2021 Processions for Cpl. Humberto A. “Bert” Sanchez

On Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, thousands of Hoosiers paid their respects to Marine Corporal Humberto A. “Bert” Sanchez, 22, of Logansport, Indiana. Sanchez was one of 13 service members killed on August 26, 2021 while serving on active duty in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Following a dignified transfer at Grissom Air Reserve Base, an estimated 9,500 motorcycles accompanied the hearse in a procession to Gundrum Funeral Home in Logansport.

Public visitation was held from 1-7 p.m. Monday, September 13 and a public funeral was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at LifeGate Church in Logansport.
