The Cass County Historical Society is pleased to announce our newly hired Executive Director, Andrea Melton. Melton comes to this position with valuable professional and personal skills and a great deal of enthusiasm. She is a Logansport native, graduating from Logansport High School with the Class of 2000. Melton completed a Bachelor of General Studies with a minor in Communications from Indiana University Kokomo. She also studied law at Ohio Northern University. Her extensive work experience in media, broadcasting, and communications will be extremely valuable to the CCHS. Melton is married and has three children. She enjoys being involved with local music and theatre, kayaking our lovely rivers, cooking, and reading.
“I am honored to have been chosen to fill this particular role,” said Melton. “The Cass County Historical Society has been tirelessly preserving our community’s history for more than one hundred years and right now we are creating new history. We are in the midst of a transition into the former Farmers and Merchants State Bank building at 421 E. Broadway. The executive office is already operating at the new building and the research and genealogy library is soon to open there as well. The community should also know that the museum at the Jerolaman-Long home at 1004 E. Market Street will also be re-opening in the coming weeks. The historical society is preserving an extraordinary collection of artifacts and I’m anxious for the museum to once again be available to the public.”
As a Logansport native with deep ties to the community and familiarity with local leadership, Melton is excited to help position the Cass County Historical Society to be part of the ongoing revitalization of downtown Logansport.
