Cass County moves back to orange on Indiana’s COVID-19 metrics map as of Dec. 22, 2021

The Indiana Department of Health updates COVID-19 county metrics and advisory levels on Wednesdays.

On. Dec. 22, 2021,Cass County moved back to orange on the map, after being in red, which indicates very high positivity and community spread of COVID-19, since December 8.

This week, ISDH reported 477 weekly cases per 100,000 residents, down from 541 last week, and a 7-day all tests positivity rate of 13.75%, down from 16.23% last week. You can see the map at coronavirus.in.gov.

Cass County is in the red threshold of 200 or more weekly cases per 100,000 residents and in the orange threshold of positivity rate of 10-14.19% or greater.

The state’s blue metric, which indicates minimal community spread, for weekly cases per 100,000 residents is less than 10 new cases, and a 7-day all-tests positivity rate of less than 5%.

The Indiana Department of Health’s county metrics map uses data as of the previous Sunday (Dec. 19).

On the CDC’s COVID-19 transmission map, Indiana counties are in red, which indicates high transmission. The CDC reports a 18.11% positivity rate for Cass County for Dec. 13-19, 2021, up from 17.89% for Dec. 6-12, 2021.

VACCINATION & TESTING

To find a vaccination clinic near you, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211 if you do not have access to a computer or require assistance. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

The CDC reports that as of Dec. 22, 2021, 42.9% of the total population in Cass County, or 16,154 individuals, are fully vaccinated. (SOURCE: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view)

That includes 45.6% of those age 5 and older, 50.1% of those 12 and older; 52.6% of those 18 and older and 74.4% of those 65 and older.

17,972 individuals, or 47.7% of the total population of Cass County have received at least one dose.
