Cass County moves to red on Indiana’s COVID metrics map on Dec. 8, 2021

The Indiana Department of Health updates COVID-19 county metrics and advisory levels on Wednesdays.

On. Dec. 8, Cass County moved to red which indicates very high positivity and community spread of COVID-19.

This week, ISDH reported 607 weekly cases per 100,000 residents, up from 405 last week, and a 7-day all tests positivity rate of 16.59%, up from 9.6%. You can see the map at coronavirus.in.gov. (Get more info on the County Metrics Map and Guidelines here – PDF)

Cass County is in the red threshold of 200 or more weekly cases per 100,000 residents and in the red threshold of positivity rate of 15% or greater.

The state’s blue metric, which indicates minimal community spread, for weekly cases per 100,000 residents is less than 10 new cases, and a 7-day all-tests positivity rate of less than 5%.

The Indiana Department of Health’s county metrics map uses data as of the previous Sunday (Dec. 5).

On the CDC’s COVID-19 transmission map, Indiana counties are in red, which indicates high transmission. The CDC reports a 23.05% positivity rate for Cass County for Nov. 30 – Dec. 6, 2021.

The Cass County Health Department’s testing and vaccination center is located at 1616 Smith Street in Logansport. They request that appointments be made for both testing and vaccinations.

To find a vaccination clinic near you, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211 if you do not have access to a computer or require assistance. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

The CDC reports that as of Dec. 9, 2021, 42.4% of the total population in Cass County, or 15,978 individuals, are fully vaccinated. (SOURCE: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view)

That includes 45.1% of those age 5 and older, 49.6% of those 12 and older; 52.1% of those 18 and older and 74.2% of those 65 and older.

17,673 individuals, or 46.9% of the total population of Cass County have received at least one dose.
