The City of Logansport would like the public to be aware that plans are moving forward for 4th and 5th Streets in Logansport to be converted from one-way to two-way traffic.
The new stoplights on 4th and 5th Streets are expected to be activated around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 and the change will take effect once they are activated.
4th Street is currently southbound traffic only and will change to one lane traveling south and one lane traveling north.
5th Street is currently northbound traffic only and will change to one lane traveling north and one lane traveling south.
Parking will remain available on both sides of 4th and 5th Streets, running in the same directions as traffic flows.
“No parking” signs will be in place on the east side of 4th Street and the west side of 5th Street on June 14 and will be removed shortly after the lights are functional.
With the new addition to the jail and new jail parking entrance, a 3-way stop has also been added at 4th and High Streets to improve safety at that intersection.
The City of Logansport was able to make the long-discussed change to 4th and 5th Streets as part of INDOT’s traffic signal modernization project, which also included new poles, traffic lights, sensors and crosswalks in downtown Logansport. City officials have also shared concerns they have heard from residents about the timing of the signals on Market and Broadway with INDOT.
