Indiana State Fair unveils 2023 safety measures

The 166 th Indiana State Fair is just around the corner and on June 1, Indiana State Fair leadership announced updated safety measures for the 2023 event. The Indiana State Fair returns July 28 through August 20 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Included in today’s announcement was a new unaccompanied minor policy and updated bag policy for the event.

“There is nothing more important to our event operation than our public safety plan. Along with our Public Safety Partners, we update, enhance and train to this plan annually.” said Anna Whelchel, chief marketing & sales officer of the Indiana State Fair. “We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming experience for all and we can’t wait to welcome Hoosiers back to this beloved summertime tradition in just 58 days.”

Safety measures that fairgoers can expect to see at the 2023 Indiana State Fair are:
Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Fairgoers under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or chaperone (age 21+) to enter the Indiana State Fair starting at 6PM daily. This applies to all 18 days of the Fair.
o Each adult may chaperone up to six (6) individuals and must remain at the Fairgrounds while the
minors they are chaperoning are still present.
Bag Policy: All bags permitted into the State Fair must be 9”x10”x12” or smaller. All bags are subject to
search upon entry to the Fair through metal detectors.
– Weapons of any kind are prohibited at the Indiana State Fair.
– Visitors will be screened through metal detectors at entry gates.
