Organizations hosting projects for Live United Day 2023

Here’s some info that’s been shared by organizations that are hosting volunteer projects for Live United Day – September 8, 2023.

Live United Day is a community-wide day of action and caring that has been organized by United Way of Cass County since 2008. You can find more info here.

PITCHING IN FOR PETS: The Downtown Senior Center is Pitching in for Pets. We are collecting pet items for Pets R Us/Cass County Humane Society. Please bring your donated items to the Downtown Senior Center at 115 S 6th Street, Monday through Friday 8-5. On Live United Day (Friday September 8th), they will deliver the collected items to Pets R Us.

Items that are in highest demand are:
Towels
Blankets
Kitty Litter
Purina kitten food
Purina puppy food
Bleach
Dish Soap
AA batteries (for scales and microchip readers)
Food dishes for dogs
Extra cages (we are a full house)
Latex-free gloves
Trash bags

TEACHER SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Stand Up Cass County is collecting school supplies for teachers to use in their classrooms.

On Friday, September 8, 2023 the coalition will collect the boxes, sort the supplies, and deliver to the administration buildings of any Cass County school that opted in to participate.

STUFF THE BUS: A Cass Area Transit bus and volunteers will be at Martin’s Supermarket on Friday September 8th from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., for the Cass County Council on Aging’s “Stuff the Bus” Live United Day project. Shoppers are asked to help us collect non-perishable food items for the Emmaus Mission Food Pantry. Their most-needed items include cereal, peanut butter, canned meat (tuna, chicken, spam), canned meals (stew, chili, soups, Spaghetti-Os’s), dry beans, bags of rice, fruit cups, pop tarts, and granola bars. For more information, email Martha at mbrown@casstransit.com. All items collected will be delivered to Emmaus on Live United Day (September 8th), so please stop by Martin’s Supermarket that day before 2:30 p.m.

CEREAL DRIVE: Logansport Memorial Hospital will kick their Cereal Drive on Live United Day (Sept. 8), and it will run through Sept 29, 2023. The cereal will then be distributed to Emmaus and Salvation Army for their food pantries. The collection bin will be in their lobby.
