Multi Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting held in Cass County

Last Updated on November 13, 2023 by Cass County Emergency Management Agency

Today representatives of numerous community organizations, as well as several individual citizens, came together at Ivy Tech Logansport to provide input into the Multi Hazard Mitigation Plan for Cass County. This plan, which will be updated every five years, aims to limit the potential loss of life, property damage and environmental harm from disasters. The plan also impacts the ability of the county, towns, the City and school districts to pursue larger funding opportunities related to hazard mitigation.

Earlier this year the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) secured a more than $20,000.00 grant through the federal Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program to fund planning activities. EMA is partnering with the Polis Center of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis to complete the plan. The Polis Center has extensive experience working with communities around the state and helping state homeland security to complete the Indiana State Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
