Last Updated on January 29, 2024 by Mike Stajduhar

Cass County Commissioner Mike Stajduhar announced today that he will seek re-election as Cass County Commissioner for the Second District. Stajduhar currently is Vice President of the County Commission.

Stajduhar also serves as Board Chairman of the Cass County Historical Society and previously was on the Board of the Logansport Housing Authority. Before moving to Logansport, he served on the Charleston, West Virginia City Council and as Chairman of the Kanawha County, West Virginia Republican Executive Committee.

A graduate of Duke University Law School, Stajduhar began his career as a tax attorney and then spent 35 years as a trust officer and financial planner with BB&T, a large regional bank, before retiring to Logansport.

Stajduhar said that to be successful, the three County Commissioners should have a good mix of skills and be able to work together effectively. He cited his financial and legal background as elements he contributes to the success of the Commission.

“My passion has always been to assure the financial stability of organizations with which I have been associated,” Stajduhar said. “Cass County must continue to maintain its financial reserves so that it is prepared to meet any emergency needs that may arise. Currently two County Councilmen and I are conducting a review of the County’s fiscal position.”

“I am certainly in favor of spending for public safety, infrastructure, and public health,” Stajduhar said, “However we need to control spending in less essential areas.”

Stajduhar served on Cass County Council from 2017-2020. “During the time I served on Council, I have come to appreciate the many services the County provides its residents and the hard work of its employees, including my fellow Commissioners and Councilmen. I look forward to working with them in the years ahead.” Stajduhar currently represents Commissioner District II, which consists of the City of Logansport and the rest of Eel Township.

His wife, Sarah Jane (Wilkinson) Stajduhar, is a 1967 graduate of Logansport High School. They have been married for 51 years and have four children and two grandchildren.
