On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 5:25 PM Cass County Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle motorcycle crash on the southbound ramp from US 35 to US 24 (Dunkirk Exchange). Several deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash along with Cass County Fire District 1, Indiana Department of Natural Resource Law Enforcement and Cass County Emergency Medical Services.
Initial scene assessment found a south bound motorcycle had travelled off the roadway and ejected the driver. Preliminary investigation by Deputy Jonathan Ousley found that 27-year-old Seth Rance of rural Logansport, IN, had been driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on US 35 and exited onto the southbound ramp to US 24. The driver drove off of the westside of the ramp and came to rest in the side ditch next to his motorcycle. A Lutheran Medical Helicopter was requested to transport the driver to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries. The driver, Seth Rance, was not wearing a helmet which may have contributed to his injuries.
The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
