
Rollover crash on July 19, 2024 seriously injures one

On Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Cass County Deputies on patrol located a single vehicle crash near County Road 500 East and US 35. Deputy Bryce Hamilton found a single vehicle with an ejected driver approximately 100 feet off of the roadway. Cass County Emergency Medical Services, Cass County Fire District #1, Walton Fire Department and the Walton Police Department also responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation found Riley Whitesel, 26, of Wabash, IN, had been driving a Ford F150 pickup truck southbound on US 35 near County Road 500 East when he drove off the east side road way. The truck rolled several times before coming to rest off of the roadway. The driver was located near the vehicle when the first deputy arrived on scene.
The driver, Riley B. Whitesel, was flown from the scene via medical helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries.
Alcohol is believe to be a factor in this crash.
The crash is still under investigation by the ass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 574*753-7800.
