Two vehicle crash in Cass County seriously injures one

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at approximately 10:40 AM Cass County Central Dispatch was notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Logansport Road and US 24. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Logansport Police Department, Walton Fire Department, New Waverly Fire Department, and Cass County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Initial assessment found an eastbound motorcycle struck a westbound pickup truck.

Preliminary investigation by Deputy David Wells found 27-year-old Jordan Norris of Lafayette, IN, had been driving a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on US 24 in the left lane. 71-year-old Craig Rice of Marion, IN, was driving a 2014 Ford F150 westbound on Logansport Road when he failed to yield and pulled into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the pickup truck at the rear of the driver’s side cab.

Craig Rice complained of neck pain and was transported by ground ambulance to Logansport Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Jordan Norris was transported with life threatening injuries by an air ambulance from the scene to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Jordan Norris was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and crash reconstructionists. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the office at 574-753-7800.
