Shooting investigation leads to arrest of three
The Logansport Criminal Investigation Division arrested three males in connection with a shooting investigation that took place at 3019 S. Pennsylvania Ave. The individuals arrested include Edward Cook, 18, and Christopher Zarate, 21, both residents of Logansport, along with a juvenile male from the area.
All three suspects are facing preliminary charges of Aggravated Battery, a level 3 felony, and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony. The investigation has revealed that their actions posed a significant threat to the safety of the community.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Logansport SWAT was activated to serve two of the four search warrants obtained during this investigation. These warrants were crucial in gathering evidence and ensuring the safety of all involved during the operation.
Logansport Criminal Investigation Division was assisted in this investigation by Logansport Patrol Division, Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Cass County Drug Task Force, Miami County Sheriff’s Department, Cass County EMS and Logansport Fire Department.

On October 1, 2024 at approximately 6:24 a.m., officers with the Logansport Police Department were dispatched to the 3000 block of Pennsylvania Ave. regarding a female that had been shot. The victim stated that there were three individuals that showed up to the residence looking for her juvenile son. As the three individuals were leaving the residence, she went into the house to call 911 and the individuals fired three rounds into the home from an unknown distance. One of the rounds struck the victim. The female victim was transported to an out-of-town hospital for treatment. The victim is being treated for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
