In honor and recognition of all of our fallen service members, the Congress, by a joint resolution approved May 11, 1950, as amended (36 U.S.C. 116), has requested the President issue a proclamation calling on the people of the United States to observe each Memorial Day as a day of prayer for permanent peace and designating a period on that day when the people of the United States might unite in prayer. The Congress, by Public Law 106-579, has also designated 3:00 p.m. local time on that day as a time for all Americans to observe, in their own way, the National Moment of Remembrance.

Flags at half-staff: Governor Mike Braun is directing all flags to be flown at half-staff in the State of Indiana on Monday, May 26, 2025, in honor of Memorial Day. Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to NOON in the State of Indiana on Monday, May 26. Governor Braun is asking businesses and residents located in State of Indiana to lower their flags as well from sunrise to NOON.
Federal, state and local government offices, including Logansport Utilities, will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of the holiday.
Trash pickup for Logansport residents will be delayed one day the week of May 26, with a Saturday pickup. See the holiday pickup schedule here.
Cass Area Transit will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 23 for employee appreciation. There will be no City Bus on Saturday, May 24 and no Cass Area Transit service on Monday, May 26. Passengers will need to plan for alternative transportation.
Cass County’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 26 at the Logansport City Building. Lineup will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the public and all military veterans are invited to participate. The parade route will include brief programs at the City Building, Cass County Government Building on 4th Street and the 6th St. Bridge. The parade will then travel to the Civil War monument in Mount Hope Cemetery for a brief program, followed by a brief program at Legion Circle in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Lewis Cass Alumni Association and Walton American Legion will present a Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 26, 2025. Memorial Day Service at the Walton I.O.O.F. Cemetery at 3 p.m. followed by a picnic from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert Ray Brown American Legion Post 418 (Walton Legion Home). | More info

All Indiana BMV branches will be closed Saturday, May 24 – Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 27.
USPS will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.
