WALTON

Walton July 4 Parade
Friday, July 4 at 2 p.m.
Lineup starts at 1 p.m. in the Lewis Cass Parking lot with the parade beginning at 2. All parade entries must enter on Howard Street. Band members and anyone riding a float will get dropped off at the front of the school. Entries must include a description of the unit. All unregistered entries will be added to the end of the parade. Churches, community organizations, businesses, families, and individuals are all welcome. 4th of July Picnic
Walton American Legion Post 418 and Lewis Cass Alumni Association are sponsoring a 4th of July Picnic after the Walton Parade. Food will be served from 3-6 p.m. in the pavilion. Menu consists of hot dogs, chips, slaw and baked beans. Free will donation. | More info

Walton Fireworks

Fireworks will be Friday, July 4, 2025 at dusk, with a rain date of July 5. The Lewis Cass school front yard, west parking lot and the practice football field to the west are the best locations for viewing. More info


LOGANSPORT

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has organized their annual 4th of July festivities and fireworks display for Friday, July 4, 2025 in the Logansport Parks. The main event at Riverside Park is free and open to the public.

The Parks Department is also requesting that people leave their personal fireworks and their pets at home. The crowds, loud music, and the fireworks show are all hard for our pets to deal with, and their behavior may become unpredictable. The best place for our family pets is at home.

Please keep in mind changes to parking and traffic control for the event. Dentzel Drive will be closed to the general public and all parking along Riverside Drive will be handicap parking only. Limited parking is available in the Vibrant Events parking lot until it is full.

The schedule of events at Riverside Park are as follows:

· 12 p.m.: Vendor setup

· 5 p.m.: Celebration starts

· 5 p.m.; Line Dancing with the “Logan Stompers” (includes a performance & participation)

· 6-7:30 p.m.: Adam Gundrum Performance on the Cass County Community Foundation Stage

· 8-10 p.m. “Tyler Truth” Performance on the Cass County Community Foundation Stage

· 10 p.m.: National Anthem by Gracie Kitchel & Finley Gay

· 10:05 p.m.: Fireworks Show

The Parks Department has issued these friendly reminders:

· Personal fireworks will not be permitted inside the park;

· Please leave your pets at home;

· As always, alcohol is not permitted in the park.

· Smoking stations will be located in the park, and we request smokers please utilize designated areas.

In addition to the Riverside Park Festivities, the public is invited to participate in these additional 4th of July activities:

Dykeman Park Golf Course’s annual “4th of July SHAMBLE”, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Online registration is available on Dykeman Park’s facebook page, or in the clubhouse. Deadline is July 2nd @5:00 PM.

Muelhausen Pool will be free and open to the public from 12-6 p.m. Join in the fun with water/team races, gift baskets and raffles, sidewalk chalk, super soakers, and hula hoops. The Splash Pad at Muehlhausen Aquatic Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

CAROUSEL: The Cass County Dentzel Carousel will be open from 3-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.


TELEVISED HOLIDAY EVENTS

NATIONAL ARCHIVES: On Friday, July 4, 2025, the National Archives will hold its annual Fourth of July program on the steps on Constitution Avenue, featuring family-friendly activities, historical reenactments—including a reading of the Declaration of Independence—and a salute to 250 years of the United States Military—the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps all turn 250 in 2025—with special performances by military bands and remarks from Commander Everett Alvarez, Jr. (Ret.), a distinguished naval aviator who is one of the longest-held American Prisoners of War during the Vietnam War and to whom the Congressional Gold Medal will soon be awarded. The 10 a.m. ceremony will be livestreamed on the National Archives YouTube channel and on the U.S. National Archives Facebook page

A CAPITOL FOURTH: On July Fourth, A Capitol Fourth, America’s National Independence Day celebration, honors our country’s birthday with an all-star salute. A Capitol Fourth on PBS premieres July 4. Most PBS stations air the Concert at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT and repeat the program at 9:30 p.m. ET. The concert is broadcast on PBS as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network. The concert can also be streamed live on https://www.pbs.org/a-capitol-fourth/, on YouTube, the PBS app and PBS.org. The concert will remain available for two weeks following the live broadcast.

MACY’S FIREWORKS: Fans nationwide will have a front row seat to “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” by tuning into NBC or streaming on Peacock® at 8-10 p.m. ET/PT, 7-9 p.m. CT/MT. | More info

Logansport Trash Pickup: Republic Services trash and recycle pick up for Friday, July 4th will be picked up on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Please place your bins out Friday evening as they will begin routes starting at 3:30 a.m. Saturday | See the schedule here.

Galveston Town Hall will be closed Friday, July 4, 2025. Trash will be picked up on Saturday, July 5 due to the holiday.

Cass County Government Building will be closed on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of Independence Day.

Logansport City Building will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of Independence Day.

Purdue Extension Cass County Offices are closed on July 3 & 4, 2025. The Cloverleaf Building at the fairgrounds is open July 5-12. The downtown office reopens July 15, 2025. Call or email 574-753-7750 or cassces@purdue.edu and they will get back with you as soon as possible.

Logansport Utilities’ offices will be closed Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of the holiday.

Cass County Recycling District: The Solid Waste warehouse will be closed Thursday July 3 and Friday July 4, 2024 in observance of Fourth of July holiday. The recycling bin at Biddle Street will be switched out on Thursday instead of Friday.

Walton Library will be closed for Independence Day on both July 4 and 5, 2025.

U.S. Postal Service will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of Independence Day and there will be no mail pickup or delivery.

Indiana BMV: All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) branches will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Saturday, July 5. For a complete list of branch locations and hours, to complete an online transaction, or to find a 24-hour BMV Connect kiosk near you visit IN.gov/BMV.

Banks: Check with your bank for their schedule for the holiday.

Businesses: Some restaurants and retail businesses are closed for the holiday or for the holiday weekend. If you have plans to shop or eat at a specific place, check their social media or confirm with them for updates!
