Michael “Mike” L. DuSchene, 73, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away July 6, 2026.
Mike was born March 2, 1953, to Edward J. and Anna May (Ingle) DuSchene of Logansport, Indiana. He was one of five children. After graduating high school in 1971, Mike moved to Lincoln, living with relatives.
In Lincoln, Mike worked for Schuster’s on “O” Street for a short time before being hired at Nash-Finch. He built a long career with Nash Finch as a warehouseman, while also taking on many other roles along the way. He retired from Nash-Finch in 2018. “Jack of all trades, master of none” was one of the phrases he always used to describe himself.
Mike served with the SW Rural Fire Department for 25 years from August 1976 until March 2002. Upon his retirement from being a volunteer firefighter, he was awarded a golden plated axe in honor of his commitment and service.
On June 16, 1979, he married Diane Johnson in Lincoln, and raised two children, Andrew and Danielle. In the rhythms of everyday life; Mike enjoyed gatherings around family dinners, time spent working through jigsaw puzzles, and the enjoyment of vintage cars one of which he was working to restore. He also took pride in woodworking, including making a pantry for their kitchen, and he appreciated the laughter and togetherness that came with a game of Cards Against Humanity.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; sister Catherine “Cat”; brother Edward “Bud”, Jr; and sister Mary (who passed away as an infant).
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane DuSchene, son Andrew (Danielle S) DuSchene, and daughter Danielle (Eric) DuSchene. Grandchildren Zander, Calirose, Jaxsen, Kenneth, Arryanna and Izzabella. Brother Butch (Patricia) DuSchene; along with other extended family and many friends.
As Mike always wanted everyone to feel comfortable, please feel free to wear comfortable everyday clothes for his services.
