As part of its continued commitment to delivering safe, high-quality water to the community, Logansport Utilities is providing complimentary home water test kits to residents who have recently had their lead or galvanized steel water service lines replaced.

The test kits are being distributed starting Thursday, July 17, 2025, at no cost to customers as a follow-up to the ongoing water service line replacement project. This initiative supports the utility’s mission to help eliminate aging infrastructure and ensure safe drinking water across the city.

“These free test kits are intended to give residents peace of mind and a better understanding of their home’s water quality,” said Greg Toth, CEO/Superintendent. “While the service line from the main to the home has been replaced, this kit will test for any remaining trace amounts of lead that may still exist in an individual’s interior plumbing or fixtures.”

Each kit includes detailed instructions for easy at-home use. Logansport Utilities encourages all participating customers to use the kits as part of their proactive approach to maintaining a healthy water supply.

According to an LU Facebook post, starting Thursday, July 17, 2025 the water department will go door-to-door to customers who had their lead or galvanized steel water service line from the water main to their home replaced.
