House fire displaces five people in Logansport

Logansport IN- At 6:26 p.m. on the evening of December 10, 2026, Logansport Fire Department, Logansport Police Department, and Cass County EMS were dispatched to the area of the 300 block of 20th Street in reference to flames coming from the window of a residence. Units arrived in the area and located a residence in the 2000 block of East Market Street with flames coming from a window on the east side of the structure.

Crews located fire in the living room area of the residence and began attacking the fire. It was initially reported an occupant was missing. A primary search was completed, and no occupants were located in the residence. All occupants were accounted for. The fire was brought under control in approximately 10 minutes.

There were no reported injuries. A cat was located in the residence, deceased. All the occupants were going to stay with family. The cause of the fire was classified as accidental, after an investigation by Logansport Fire Department Investigator, Rusty Logan. The Logansport Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Logansport Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Cass County EMS, Logansport Building Commissioner, Logansport Utilities (Electric and Water), and NIPSCO.
