On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at approximately 4:21 PM, Cass County Central Dispatch received calls regarding a single-vehicle crash on State Road 25 north of County Road 775 North. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Twelve Mile Fire Department, Harrison Township Fire Department, Logansport Fire Department, and Cass County Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash. Initial scene assessment determined that a single pickup truck was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole and barn.

Preliminary investigation by Deputy Alexander Denny found that Cory Barnett, 37, of Mishawaka, IN, was driving a 2020 Toyota Tundra northbound on State Road 25 when he veered off the east side of the roadway, struck an electric utility transmission pole, continued, and collided with a barn before coming to a stop. The truck came to rest on all four wheels east of State Road 25. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was airlifted via a medical helicopter to a trauma center in Fort Wayne. No other passengers were in the truck.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
