Here are a few things we thought you might want to know today:

🚧 LMU has announced that Water Street will be closed between Holland Street and Kiesling Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020.

🚻 The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will shut down restrooms in the city parks for the winter beginning this week. In addition, lights at all basketball courts will be shut down beginning November 2. Read more here.

🗳️ According to the Cass County Clerk’s Office, 77 ballots were returned by mail on Monday, Oct. 19 and 299 people voted in person at the Cass County Government Building. Early voting is available at the Cass County Government Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday this week, and from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Vote centers will open on Oct. 29 at various locations around the county. Find the full list of voting hours and locations, as well as what’s on the ballot here.

🦠 The Indiana Department of Health announced Monday that 1,589 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. To date, a total of 149,166 Indiana residents are known to have had the novel coronavirus. A total of 3,727 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 23 from the previous day. Today’s update includes 11 newly confirmed deaths that occurred between Sept. 17 and Oct. 3. The state dashboard shows 9 new cases reported in Cass County, for a total of 2,210 to date, with 20 deaths. More info at We’re tracking Cass County stats here.

😷 Free COVID-19 testing is available at the testing center on Smith Street in Logansport. Appointments are required – visit

📅 The Cass County Health Department says that if you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you should quarantine for 14 days from the day you were last exposed to that person.

📷 Scarecrows have returned to downtown Logansport as part of Logan’s Landing’s annual Scarecrow Row. We caught a few on camera over the weekend here.

Local Solar System Ambassador Pam Roller says the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is orbiting asteroid Bennu, where it’s set to capture a sample on October 20. Live coverage of the spacecraft’s descent to the asteroid’s surface for its “Touch-And-Go,” or TAG, maneuver, which will be managed by Lockheed Martin Space near Denver, will begin at 5 p.m. on NASA TV and the agency’s website.
