Here are a few things we thought you might want to know for Oct. 22, 2020:

☑ Today is the deadline if you want to request an absentee ballot for the 2020 General Election. All requests must be received by the county clerk’s office no later than Thursday, October 22, 2020. Registered voters can request an absentee ballot online at www.IndianaVoters.com. Additionally, voters must return their absentee ballots before Election Day. To date, 547,268 absentee-by-mail ballots have been requested statewide. If a voter has questions about the status of their absentee ballot, they can visit www.IndianaVoters.com to track their ballot. They can also contact their county clerk’s office.

🗳 According to the Cass County Clerk’s Office, 46 ballots were returned by mail on Wednesday, Oct. 21 and 249 people voted in person at the Cass County Government Building. Early voting is available at the Cass County Government Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday this week, and from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Vote centers will open on Oct. 29 at various locations around the county. Find the full list of voting hours and locations, as well as what’s on the ballot here.

🚧 LMU has announced that Water Street will be closed between Holland Street and Kiesling Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020.

🟠 Cass County remained in the orange category on the state’s COVID-19 county metrics map, indicating moderate to high community spread. The state map shows 217 cases per 100,000 Cass County residents and a 7 day positivity rate of 11.39%. Miami County was also ranked orange, with 233 cases per 100,000 residents and a positivity rate of 7.22%. Pulaski and Fulton Counties were both ranked yellow, indicating moderate community spread. Only 8 of the state’s 92 counties, including Howard and Carroll, were ranked blue, indicating minimal community spread. You can see the map at coronavirus.in.gov.

😷 One death and seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday in Cass County. Read Wednesday’s update from the Indiana State Department of Health here.

📝 The local mural committee who brought artist Anthony Brooks to the Transco Building on 18th Street is holding a contest inviting Cass County residents to help write the story of the characters pictured in the mural. More info here.
