Here are a few things we thought you might want to know for Wednesday, January 20, 2021:


INAUGURATION: Today is Inauguration Day and Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States just after noon. | Details


PARKS MEETING: The Logansport Parks and Recreation Department’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. today (1/20) in the City Council Chambers at the Logansport City Building. There’s a lengthy agenda but two items to be discussed are plans for the Little Turtle Waterway Annex (a large greenspace downtown near the Depot) and allocation of funds for a design agreement for a skatepark. If these items are of interest to you, you may want to attend the meeting. It’s our understanding that they also plan to stream it online at http://www.cityoflogansport.org/city-meeting-broadcasts/. The meeting will be followed by a meeting of the Logansport City Council’s Rules Committee, to discuss an inoperable vehicle ordinance.


FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING: The Logansport City Council’s Finance Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 and they also have a lengthy agenda that includes discussion of park fee increases, dog park funding, trash rate increase, a community development position, a salary study and a mental health plan. | More info


COVID-19 UPDATES: On Tuesday, Indiana reported 126 deaths from COVID-19 that occurred between December 15 and January 18. Two of those were reported for Cass County and occurred on January 16, bringing the total deaths to date in Cass County to 62. A total of 9,092 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19.

22 new positive cases were reported Tuesday in Cass County, bringing the total to date to 4,753.

The county metrics map is typically updated at noon on Wednesdays.

The Governor’s weekly COVID-19 briefing will be held Thursday, Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m.


COVID-19 VACCINES: Hoosiers age 70 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

The state’s vaccine dashboard reports that the first dose has been administered to 1,184 individuals in Cass County and 322 individuals in Cass County are fully vaccinated.

More than 317,000 Hoosiers have received their first dose of vaccine, and nearly 72,000 are fully vaccinated.
