Here are a few things we thought you might want to know for Oct. 27, 2020:

TRASH & RECYCLING: The City of Logansport shared some info about upcoming changes to trash and recycling on their Facebook page yesterday. Read more here.

UPDATE FROM GALVESTON POLICE: The Galveston Police Department says one person was arrested after a report of shots fired on Monday. Read more here.

eLEARNING: Lewis Cass Schools announced on Monday that they will be holding an eLearning day on Friday, Oct. 30 for pre-K through 12th grade. The superintendent says it will provide an opportunity to perform a test on technology infrastructure to ensure they can meet all staff and student needs. More info here.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The Indiana Department of Health announced Monday that 2,009 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. To date, a total of 164,581 Indiana residents are known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard. A total of 3,907 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 13 from the previous day. Another 236 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Monday’s report included 13 new cases and 1 new death in Cass County. EEL RIVER DAM REMOVAL: At last month’s meeting of Logansport’s Utility Service Board, information was presented about the removal of the Eel River Dam at 10th Street and the 3-foot dam about 200 feet downstream. Further discussion, as well as a vote on the project, is expected at Tuesday’s meeting meeting of the Utility Service Board, which will begin at 5 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the LMU Board Room on the 3rd Floor of the Logansport City Building. LMU is seeking public input and suggests that community members submit written statements to LMU or attend Tuesday’s meeting for another opportunity to learn more or share their opinions on the issue.
